       Diagnosis of Dementia

Ÿ The diagnosis of dementia requires a complete
             evaluation of medical, neurophysiological,
             cognitive and communication abilities.

Ÿ The process is rst to determine if the person
has a cognitive communicative problem and
how severe it is. There are several tests to
             determine this.

Ÿ The next step is to determine the cause in order
to accurately recommend treatment and allow
patients and caregivers to plan for the future.
