Following facilities are available at AIISH for the
diagnosis and treatment of voice disorders:
Ÿ ENT Consultation: An ENT doctor visualizes

the vocal chords to accurately diagnose and
provide appropriate treatment through
medication or surgery. Surgeries are
performed for removal of mass lesions from
the vocal folds (vocal nodules, polyps etc.),
treating early stages of cancer of the voice box
etc.

Ÿ AIISH has facilities for consultation of Phono
surgeon.

Ÿ Speech language pathologist consultation:
The speech and language pathologist helps in
diagnosing the voice problem and treats
conditions which cannot be treated on medical
lines by providing voice therapy.

Voice therapy is a process, by which a speech
and language pathologist teaches the correct
vocal behaviours, limits inappropriate and
faulty(harmful) voice habits, and facilitates
the use of correct voice. There are several
softwares and techniques used in the process.

Tips to prevent voice disorders

Ÿ Not all types of voice disorders are preventable.
However, if the cause for voice disorder is due to
