dc.description.abstract Children with cerebral palsy are often reported to have oromotor deficits. Hence, the present study aimed to investigate the strength and endurance of lip and tongue in cerebral palsy using the IOPI (Iowa Oral Performance Instrument) device. Ten children with cerebral palsy and 20 typically developing children in the age range of 6–8 years were selected for the study. The results indicated that the cerebral palsy group had poor strength and endurance of lip and tongue than typically developing the group. In the typically developing group, significant differences were found between older and younger age groups. However, no significant differences were found in the cerebral palsy group. Interestingly a highly significant positive correlation was found between lip strength and endurance as well as tongue strength and endurance. The results of the study are discussed in detail.
