STEPS FOR CLIENT/SERVER INSTALLATION (NETWORK) : Following are the steps to install LEAP Office in the Network environment. Remember that to use LEAP Office as described below you must have a Network license that you will get with the package if you have purchased LEAP Office for the Network. Step 1. Select one of the PC on your LAN as a server to hold LEAP Office. This PC can be running Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT Workstation or Windows NT Server. If you are installing on Windows NT make sure that you are logged on with Administrator priviliges since the installation makes entries in the registry and creates files in the Windows folder. Step 2. Do an installation of LEAP Office on that PC. Remember to give the Serial number when the installation asks for it. Step 3. Typically LEAP Office is installed in "C:\Program Files\LEAP Office", unless you have specified another folder for it during the installation. Share this ...\LEAP Office folder where LEAP Office is installed with Full (read and write) permissions, since the user profiles will be written on the server PC. Follow these steps to share the ...\LEAP Office folder. For Windows 95 a. In Windows Explorer, click the folder you want to share. b. On the File menu, click Properties. c. Click the Sharing tab, and then click Shared As and give shared name as "LEAP Office SERVER". If the Sharing tab is not visible, you need to enable file and print sharing services. (To enable the file sharing services go to Control Panel, double click on network icon to display Network Properties. Click on the File and Print Sharing. Click the sharing option you want. A check mark means this feature is activated.) For Windows NT a. Contact your Network Administrator to share the ..\LEAP Office folder on the server and give the name "LEAP Office SERVER" for the ..\LEAP Office folder which is now shared. Step 4. Now the server part of the installation is ready. Do the following on other PCs on the network (now known as client PCs) to install LEAP Office on them. a. Right click on the Network Neighbourhood in explorer and select Map Network Drive give the Network path as \\ServerPCName\LEAP Office SERVER and select the Reconnect at Logon check box. b. Now you will see a new drive in Explorer. c. Browse to the NetSetup folder within this new drive. d. Run NetSetup.exe from that folder. e. Follow the setup instructions on the screen. NOTE: 1. If you don't have the LEAP Office network license, you can only install the lite (Trial Copy) on the client PCs. Contact your dealer or CDAC for getting a Network License. 2. To run LEAP Office on the client PCs, the server PC must always be on.
